TWO GAMES!!!!!

Thursday night, Zachary had a basketball game. They played another homeschool group, so the three-point shots counted as three points. Zachary and one of his friends said that they would score 40 points that game. They were losing 16-13 at halftime. Zachary made a three-point shot and a two-point shot at the end of the 4th quarter to make it 32-32. They went into overtime, but lost 39-32.

Friday night they played a catholic team (which means NO three-pointers). We were playing a 5th grade team, so most of them were really short. Zachary scored 10 points. The team scored over 40 points (first time for them). We won the game by 6 points (41-35).

The spectators of the Friday night game were on pins and needles. It was a very tense game. The gym was very noisy. The other teams' spectators were great cheerleaders. Zachary tries to get things going when he is on the bench, but our spectators don't cooperate or his teammates. He is a one-man band! Rhythmless to boot! It was a fun night.

We got home from the Friday night game around 6:45. We hadn't had dinner yet. I started dinner, when Zachary remembered that it was youth group night. Dad rushed him to church, while I fixed dinner. Elyse & I ate while they were gone. Dad ate when he got back. Zachary didn't get dinner until after youth group - which was about 9:00.

Sorry we don't have pictures, I forgot the camera. Even when I remember the camera, it is very hard to take pictures of moving targets. We have used the "sport" setting, but we still aren't very good photographers.

Although I wasn't there, I think the first paragraph understated Zach's heroics on Thursday. He hit his three-point shot with 40 seconds left to tie the game (30-30). The other team came right back and scored. Zach's team took it the other end and Zach drained a 15-footer to tie it up at the last second. It is too bad they lost in OT, but clutch shooting like that is tough to do. Nice work, Zach.

Sounds like Zach's having a great season! I'm glad he's having such an encouraging start to sports; I'm looking forward to seeing him in action!

Mom - what are the rules for when the 3-pointers count? And what grades are on Zach's team?

Z - nice job, bud! Keep up the hard work!

E - have you nailed down any color choices for that dresser? I'm really looking forward to working on it with you this summer!

love,
Betsey

The rules for three-point shots is they are worth two points if we play a catholic school. When we play the homeschoolers, they count as three points.

Zachary's team is age 12 and under. We play kids in 4th, 5th and 6th grades. All other teams call us a 6th grade team, but we do have 7th graders on the team.

No, Elyse hasn't picked out colors yet. She changes her mind daily. We aren't going to buy the paint until we know it is going to happen. Let us know when you are coming and we will get the paint. BTW, it is a bookshelf.

Congrats, Zach! It sounds like you are doing great! Man, I LOVE close games like those! You'll remember those feelings forever. Great shooting.

Elyse, I can't wait to see what you and Betsey do with that bookshelf! It's going to be so cool. And pretty! I think Mom should give you the camera from now on. She can't be trusted to use it, lol! Just kidding, I know it's tough to take pictures at a sports event.

I request a photo of the familia, so I can see your pretty faces and to see how y'all look. Purty please.

Oh, and Skype us if you want to see Bristol in action!
