HE IS RISEN!!!!!

He is risen, indeed!

Hallelujah, what a Savior!

What wondrous love is this...!

My handsome children on Easter morning!

Please don't look at the color of Zachary's shoes, Emily. Yes, they are brown. Thanks for your input yesterday - it helped. We just didn't succeed in the purchasing department.

Aw, they kind of match with the peach shade. At least it looks like it in the photo; sometimes that changes colors.

So what was the Tennebrae service you guys went to? Did we ever do that growing up?? I had never heard of it. Is this something your new church does?

Love you guys!
Betsey

I had never heard of it before. Tenebrae means darkness. It was a Good Friday evening service. Readers read the passion story from Jesus praying in the garden to Joseph putting him in the tomb. After each section of reading there was a song (either congregational or performed). After each song a candle was snuffed out. Before the last song, only one candle was left burning. After the last song, it was carried out of the room and everything was dark. There was a loud bang to stand for the tomb being closed. The congregation leaves the service in darkness and silence to wait for Easter morning.

The picture does make it look like they match. Elyse's dress was actually pink, but it looks like peach like Zachary's shirt.

Aw! Elyse...you must play basketball. Must. Or volleyball. Or lacrosse. Whatever.

You two look beautiful!

Thanks for the info, Dad. That must have been a very powerful way to leave the church on Friday, and I imagine it made the celebration that Sunday much more meaningful!

I feel like we missed out on that this year. If our church had a Good Friday service, we were somehow unaware of it. So, all we got was the celebration. It was weird, like only getting half the story.

Erin - YES, Elyse must play volleyball. Or soccer, if she wants. Those are her options - one of those two. ;)

love,
Betsey

Also just noticed that Elyse is wearing the shoes from my wedding. Perfect match for that outfit! Good choices, everyone, nice job.

:)

Betsey
