DIY PROJECTS!!!!!

For our Memorial Day picnic, I made a beach scene (blue jello, crushed cinnamon graham crackers, fruit kebabs, and decorations).  It was a hit!

Today we made a "candle" or "lamp" out of an orange.  It sure smelled good!

I have more projects up my sleeves.  I am just waiting for a hunk of time when I am not driving someone somewhere!

Lovely! I was surprised that the cinnamon and jello tasted good together. The orange thing was a really cool idea.

That looks fun and delicious. How did you make the orange candle? What's burning in it?

Erin - the candle is an orange. You slice through the skin around the middle of the orange. Then you carefully peel the skin away from the meat. You end up with two halves. Pour oil (veg or olive) in the half that has the center wick (make sure you get oil on the wick). Then you cut the other half in half again (cutting the top off). Light the candle, put the top on and there you go.

Fun stuff. Technically, that is an oil lamp, not a candle.
