The four of us decided to take a "real" vacation - haven't had one in over five years. We rented a cabin one hour away from Erin, in Garrison, ND. The cabin was in fair condition - I don't think they updated anything since 1970, but it was usable.
On the way, we saw where Tobin worked, ha!

Vacation gifts...

The cabin said they has service for four - they only had two bowls. Cereal was eaten out of a mixing bowl and a measuring cup for the 3rd and 4th person.
Such a fun kiddo! Enjoyed getting to know him a little bit better.

Zachary wanted to hike to the plateau, but gave up halfway. Dad made it 1/4 of the way. If you enlarge the picture, you can see Zachary facing you way off in the distance.
What I will be using pretty soon!

Thanks, Erin, for making our trip amazing! We drove 3,119 miles in nine days. We are tired, but so glad we went. We loved having Bristol stay the night with us one night and both kids staying with us for one afternoon while Erin worked. Great time!
Badlands: just gloriously beautiful. The perspective in the picture is amazing. We're just little nothings in this big world, let alone the entire universe.
I realized belatedly that since Dad hadn't been out here in ND before, he didn't get to see the base or the B-52s. Darn. You all wouldn't want to drive out here again, would you? Haha!
I am SO GLAD you got to fit in a vacation before your surgery. Now you have pictures to entertain you during your recovery. I'll try to send you a daily picturegram to entertain you then as well!

It was a very nice vacation.
Erin, just send a B-52 to pick me up for that tour. I don't think I can take another drive right now.
We need to go back to the Badlands with more time to explore.
