IN THE EYE OF THE STORM!!!!!

Today (8/20/16) we had a real tornado warning.  It did touch down in Wyoming, but not close enough to us.

Our back deck...

Back yard...

Our driveway and neighbor's front yard...

Our biggest limb down - nothing to brag about...

Pinery park (2/10 of a mile SE of us)

Across the street from Pinery Park...

A few blocks south of us, the tree is laying on TWO cars...

Thankfully there was no damage to our house.  When the sirens went off, we headed to the basement. We forgot to shut the windows.  We had some wet floors and one bed, but otherwise we survived without too much damage.

Tim, Elyse & I picked up the bigger branches from our yard.  Elyse picked up the front yard of the neighbors (he was all by himself cleaning up his yard).

We lost electricity for about two hours.  Nothing lost there either.  Elyse's restaurant closed because of no electricity, so she didn't have to work tonight.

Praise God for his awesome care of us and our neighbors.

The pictures do not do justice to the tree damage. It is amazing how much damage was done to trees and how little to buildings. MLive says eight houses and one 7-unit apartment building in Wyoming were uninhabitable due to tornado damage, but it did not specify a location.

Glad you all are safe! The touchdown spot was eerily close to you all. Yikes!

Craziness. I missed all of it too because I was out of town with the cross country team. Glad to hear everyone was safe and that there is still a college and home here...

Crazy West Michigan weather... Blake Harmes said that this was the first tornado warning in about a decade. Craziness!
