ONE ON ONE BASKETBALL CAMP
EDIT: New picture at the bottom, just for you, Erin!
Zachary went to a basketball camp this morning @ 6:00. He spent 4 1/2 hours learning drills and getting to know the guys. He was supposed to be there until Saturday night. BUT...something happened. Zachary could tell the whole story, but just suffice it to say that he ran into a guy full force and ended up on the parking lot.
We received a phone call to come get him. He couldn't move his arm. He couldn't eat (that is a sure sign that something is wrong with him, ha!).
After spending the afternoon in urgent care and getting x-rays at the hospital, the verdict is a broken collar bone. We go to a specialist tomorrow to see what they can do for him. So much for basketball camp.
At urgent care:
His wonderful nurse:
Waiting for the results of the x-rays:
Zachary is the first one of our children to actually break a bone. Luke came in close with a separated growth plate, but nothing broken. Grace & Caleb - Zachary has joined your "club."
The evidence: Click on it and the circle is the break!
Temporary fix:
We'll see the specialist on Monday morning at 8:15.

Boo! Sorry, Zach!
This post does not make me happy. Get better soon, Zach!
On a lighter note...his feet in that hospital bed look HUGE! And, is that a heart on the nurse's stethoscope? Cute!
Mom, is there any way you can post a picture of his cast? (yep, a little morbid curiosity)
No cast yet! He can't get an appointment to see the doctor until MONDAY!!!!! YIKES!!!!!
What a bummer! So sorry, Zach!!!
And I'm with Erin - what size shoes does that boy wear?!
Lacey - Z's shoes are size 12 - except his baseball cleats, they are 13's.
Erin - Yes, that is a heart of the nurse's stethoscope. She does that for pictures. She was really funny and good with Zachary.
OH MY GOODNESS! Poor Z, he looks miserable. I feel bad for asking for a picture now. Whyyyyy can't they see him til Monday? Booooo.
I would ask you to give him a squeeze for me, but that would just be mean at this point. Love you, Zach!
Oh my gosh I just realized Zach's hair is gone! Can't believe he let you do that. :)
Erin - He asked for a hair cut for basketball camp. He was going to grow it out after camp, now he can start growing it out today.
Oh my poor boy! I feel awful for him. What a terrible thing to go through and no relief until MONDAY??!! Yikes. Oh geez and that's his pitching arm too!!! So unfortunate. I'll be praying for him.
Love,
Betsey
We found another doctor and just got back. He changed the pains meds - hopefully, Z will tolerate them. He will have to come back in four weeks, get another x-ray to see if it is healing right. It will take 6-8 weeks to be completely healed. No contact sports for eight weeks. What's a boy to do to entertain himself?
He looks so much like Dad in that last picture!
love,
Betsey
