THANKSGIVING TRADITIONS!!!!!

A new Rumley tradition:  5K Turkey Trot.  Some walked, some ran & walked, some actually ran the whole way.

Dad made a route for the distance (5K) and made a map for everyone.  I stayed behind with Ava.  We took pictures as they came in and we were the timers.  The times are below each picture.  Dan was the fastest, but he took a wrong turn, so we aren't supposed to use his time.  Dan also ran back to meet up with the next runner.  So, he actually ran more than anyone.

Betsey came with a "pilgrim" outfit.  I tried to get a good picture, but you will have to use your imagination with this one.

The gang before the race.

Jaden was upset when we tried to get him to wear this hat!

And they're off!

Emily made everyone a racers' bib.  We each chose our favorite number.

Ava keeping her balance.

Ava must have made 20 trips back and forth.

First place - Dan – 21:31:81 (but Dan would admit that he cheated, he made a wrong turn)

Second place - Zachary – 22:02:42 (actually first place)

Third place - Emily – 30:24:83

Fourth place - Micah – 30:57:10

Fifth place - Betsey – 31:59:46

Sixth place - Luke – 32:01:27

Luke almost throwing up...
Seventh place - Dad – 59:26:78 (walking)

Eighth place - Elyse & Grace – 1:04:35 (complete walking)

Ninth place - Lacey & Jaden – 1:05:42 (complete walking)

(Ava stayed with me at the finish line – Caleb quit and came back early

It was fun watching them run/walk.  I guess this is our new yearly tradition.  We missed you, Tobin Erin & Bristol.  Maybe next year you can run with us.

I would just like to add that I was dragging/carrying a 3-year-old the whole time, AND we stopped a million times to take pictures and complain about the wind. :-) Fun new tradition! I'm proud of all my sporty relatives!

The wind was something else. I am not sure that Caleb was happy that he decided to walk with me. It is a good new tradition. We just need to make sure our next home is next to a nice park with two lakes.

Erin - it was 49* when we started the race. Most of them took their jackets off halfway through the race. It was almost 60* in the afternoon. BUT, today, it is freezing - 22*.

It was quite warm for running, Erin. Only the wind around the lake was chilly. I had running tights on, but they were too warm. I didn't bring shorts thinking it would be colder.

This was super fun and I can't wait to do it again!
