AND THE WINNER IS....!!!!!

Today was the AWANA Grand Prix. Both Elyse & Zachary entered the race. They made their cars "almost" all by themselves. Elyse's was a "flower power" car. Zachary's was just a race car. Both got a ribbon for participation. Zachary got third place for speed.

Here are their cars, ribbons and trophy.

Just for fun - I thought I would include a picture of my redbud tree out in the back yard. I am sure all you children away from home miss looking at it, so here it is! Isn't is gorgemous.

Today is also the "Rebuilding Project" for Portage. PCS is working as a team on repairing a house in Portage. Dad volunteered our lawnmower - which he is in the process of picking up. Last year PCS did Jim Hoggard's house (you paper throwers should remember him).

Have a super day! Miss all of you!

I DIDN'T MEAN IT!!!!!

Remember the title of the last blog? "Kids...who needs them?" Well, even though they are a pain in the neck, I didn't mean it really. Today Elyse was supposed to go to Art class from 12:45 to 1:35. So, she went. At 1:25, I couldn't keep my eyes open, so I fell asleep on the couch. I knew when Elyse came home, she would wake me up. At 1:35, I heard the front door open, but no one came in. I immediately fell asleep again. At 2:10 the phone rang and woke me up. The caller left a message for Tim. I called Tim to give him his message. Then Zachary came upstairs and said, "Where's Elyse?" I said, "At Art." He said, "It is 2:15!" Tim said if I didn't find her to call him back. So, Zachary and I went on an Elyse hunt. I looked all through the house, I yelled out the front door, I yelled out the back door, I told Zachary to look in the garage and in the car. NO ELYSE! I started to call Tim back when I noticed that he was walking across the street with Elyse. He explained that Elyse found the door locked (it wasn't, it just sticks) and so she returned to the school. She asked to go in Mrs. Boltze's Art class because Dad was in a meeting. So, the prodigal was found. Mom & Zachary were having a heart attack. Dad told Elyse that she did the right thing in returning to the school, but she should have waited for Dad to get out of his meeting instead of going down the hall. She was already signed out of the school and they would never have looked for her if there was a fire, etc. Zachary said, "My only playmate is gone!" He would have really been devastated. So, I really didn't mean it!!!!! Heart attack over!

KIDS...WHO NEEDS THEM!!!!!

"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Well, you train them, teach them right from wrong, protect them, send them off with prayers for safety and they still screw up. Oh well! Not as bad as it could have been. But, more than we would like to see happen. AND, you know who you are!!!!!!!!

Edit: Monday night, 8:10!

Mrs. Boltze called this morning to see if Zachary was well enough to learn how to use oil paints. He said he wasn't well enough, but I made him go anyway. On his way out the door, we noticed that he had holes in his jeans (that isn't allowed). So, I called Dad to see if there would be an exception. Nope! Dad sent him home. We dressed him again in the foyer and sent him back. The picture that follows is his oil painting. It is amazing! Didn't he do a great job.

CALEB'S FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY!!!!!

Caleb was so excited about his "piano" that Gma & Gpa Rumley gave
him. He couldn't stop smiling.

Grace loved her sunglasses. These wouldn't stay on her, but
she loved them just the same.

These stayed on better. I guess two in a package mean one for
now and one for later. A rock star wanna be.

Caleb was afraid to get his fingers dirty. I guess he IS related
to Zachary. It was fun watching him anyway.

It was good to see the Liabenow family, especially David. He is looking good. If you think about it, pray for David as he goes into surgery on Tuesday (April 3).

Dad is sick, again! Don't know how to keep him well. Any ideas?
