Yesterday, Zachary, Elyse & I went to "Feed My Starving Children." It is a Christian organization that packs food in bags, then boxes it up to send to poverty stricken countries. We saw pictures of children that weighed only seven pounds at five years old. After eating the food packed by FMSC, they looked like normal children.
We packed 111 boxes containing 36 bags of food each and that would feed 66 children for a year. It was work, but it was also fun.
Aren't we cute? Left to right: Mrs. Pamela Hedges, Simon, Mrs. ??, Rose, Emma, Elyse, Zachary, Noah & Chatham. Yes, we had to wear those cute hair nets. The photographer didn't get in the picture (me). Every time we touched our camera or cell phones, we had to rewash our hands. So, I took one picture before we started, washed my hands, and then quit touching other things.
We ended the evening with dinner at Culver's. We flapped so long at Culver's that we missed "Biggest Loser." Amazing how fun can override something else. We will probably do it again, as most of the work done at FMSC is by volunteers. It was great to see the kids working hard to help those less fortunate.
