BURNED GOOD!!!!!

Kind of fuzzy, but maybe you can tell how much is burned. It looks more like a strawberry birthmark. The pain is gone, but the mark will be there for awhile yet. Guess I should hang on to that chicken a little bit longer.

SHOWER FOR ?????

Lacey hosted a baby shower for Erin.

I left at 6:30 a.m. and got there in 4 1/2 hours (15 minutes longer than normal). Not bad for Chicago traffic.

Erin, however, didn't fare so well. Tobin & Erin left at 7:00 a.m. and got stuck 3 1/2 hours in a stand still. The rain flooded several spots on the freeway plus there were a lot of accidents. One of the cars had water up to the drivers' window. Needless to say, Erin was very late for her own shower.

We started to eat while we waited for Erin. You can't start a baby shower without the guest of honor. Everyone stayed long enough for Erin to get there. After she ate her lunch, we started the party in earnest.

Betsey made the decoration (out of diapers).

Erin opened her gifts - she got a lot of very nice things. Her helpers were Elyse & Grace.

The gang at the shower: Back row - Sarah, Nancy, Laura, me, Ruth, Gma Laga. Front row - Danni, Erin, Elyse (holding Grace), Lacey and Emily. We missed you, Betsey!

One awful cute little helper:

In case you need to know, Elyse & I made it home safely. We had a little scary rain through the construction, but made it home at 10:00 p.m. If I don't see the inside of that car for awhile, it won't hurt my feelings at all.

Thanks Lacey, Emily & Betsey for a great job! Good food, Great decorations, a Fun time!

AREN'T WE COOL?????

Yep, we are the coolest "old" people on the planet. I know, you are jealous.

First, is my bike.

Last night, Dad found his bike (they were out of them when I bought mine). Three different people commented on Dad's bike when he was buying it. The picture doesn't do it justice. The orange part is shiny. Erin, doesn't the color make you want to go out and snag one for yourself?

Then the real clincher - the "his and hers" together.

Yep, they are CRUISERS. No switching gears, no hand brakes and crazy FAT seats to soften the ride for old bottoms. Can't wait to ride them, huh? Any time you come over, you may take them for a spin. Our first "family" bike ride comes later. Pictures to follow!

ALL-STAR GAME!!!!!

The All-Star Game was today at 1:15. We were able to attend church, otherwise, Zachary wouldn't have gotten to play. It was 89 degrees, but felt like 91. The wind was strong (which was good), but the field was dry and it blew the sand right in our faces. Zachary was amazing! I think this was his best game. He was three for three, with two singles and a double, three runs scored, one RBI, and we lost count of how many stolen bases. Defensively, he caught a pop fly at second base. He played left field, second base, right field and center field. Zachary's team won with a score of 20-3. Each player got an All-Star t-shirt. Here is Zachary proudly displaying his.

The writing says, "Vernon Hills Athletic Association Baseball All-Star 2010." In case you can't read it. We are proud of him.

Tonight the FIREWORKS - can't wait!!!!!
