FRIDAY FUN!!!!!

Zachary, Elyse & I went to Navy Pier to see "The Taming of the Shrew," put on by Chicago Shakespeare Theater. We went on a school day because it was cheaper (not to mention that we didn't have to have regular school). We had to run two errands before we drove to Chicago, so we left the house pretty early. Yep, we were very early for the play. We covered from one end to the other of Navy Pier in all its glory.

Elyse, obviously, had the camera. Zachary & I walking around the indoor gardens. If you remember, our whole family walked through this last year.

Emily posted flowers on her blog, so I thought I would too. Anybody know what kind these are?

Zachary munching on organic crackers, gluten-free, made out of seeds. He loves them!

One pretty girl with her Momma.

One handsome dude next to a wilting plant.

Surprise!

Flowers in our flower bed. They are short lived because of warm weather, then a cold snap. I don't think they will come back, but we are hoping so.

The kids thought they would be bored during the play. They were quite surprised when they enjoyed it. The actors were pretty good. On the way home, we found a Biggby's Coffee shop. We knew there was one in Wisconsin, but we didn't know there was one so close to home. That is a BAD idea. I hope we forget where it is!

PICTURES WORTH 1,000 WORDS!!!!!

It's been a long time since I updated. Much has happened, yet nothing has happened.

Elyse has been trying new hair-dos - what do you think of this one?

For $10, Zachary bought himself "Guitar Praise." Both kids have been playing it for hours. Thankfully, it works with headphones, ha! He originally ordered ONE CD with the guitar. The company sent two extra CD's and said, "Expansion packs a gift. Enjoy!" How nice.

One of Tim's tutoring students improved so much, that his mother thought Tim needed a gift. Lacey you would love the top box - it was filled with Ghiordelle chocolate. The second box had dried fruit, the 3rd had Seattle chocolates, the 4th had two boxes of dark chocolates, another one had fresh pears, the last one had apples. Yum, yum! What a great gift! Not only that, but the boxes are cute.

Dad always wanted a t-shirt representing the school he attended. Trinity had a sale going - so I went shopping. I didn't want a t-shirt (the hoodies were all gone), but I got three shirts and Elyse's hat for $13 (including tax). Lacey would like that sale!

We have been enjoying the warm weather. We have taken two bike rides. Tonight Dad & I walked down to the lake and sat on a bench. The cool breeze off the lake was a much needed break from the heat in the house. The temp in the house is 82 (we don't seem to get a breeze in here at all). Almost time to put the swing up on the deck. I am sure snow is coming though - it is too early for this much heat.

FARM MEAT!!!!!

Last night I went to a homeschool meeting. The speaker used to be a VP at Gateway, but was now a SAHM and living on a farm. She used to live right around the corner from Z's basketball home court (in a very fancy house). She told us about grass-fed beef, free-range chickens and free-range pigs. They raise their own meat. They even have dairy cows and drink only raw milk. She told us all about the horrible things that industrial farmers do to their animals (and thus the food they produce). Her chickens, eggs, beef and pork do not taste like anything you buy in the store. Her eggs are $3 a dozen (which is cheaper than free-range eggs in the grocery store around here). If I had the money, if we didn't have to drive to Kenosha, WI, to get the meat, and if I had room, I might be tempted to go hog wild (excuse the expression). Do you think I have room in my little freezer?

Thankfully, my freezer will feed us for several weeks. Maybe my next load of food should come from their farm. Not likely, but it is a nice thought.
