ONE SMARTY PANTS!!!!!

Today Dad, Zachary, Elyse and I went to Grace for Betsey's Awards Ceremony. We left our house at 6:30 a.m. (yes, I said A.M.). When I realized that I timed it wrong, we were 40 minutes early. So, we stopped at WalMart in Plymouth to return a pair of Elyse's capris that we bought the last time we went to Grace. We had breakfast in the car (the leftovers went to Betsey).

We went to their new orthopedic building - quite impressive. Betsey was glad to see us and surprised to see Dad (originally, he wasn't going because of work).

Does she look happy to see us?

On the screens they had all the names of the awards and who was giving them out. This one says "Outstanding Prospective Teacher Honorable Mention." The stupid photographer was a little tipsy when taking this picture. See if you can find Betsey's name.

Now she is listed in the "Who's Who" booklet. A little blurry again. This time she is listed as Elizabeth Rumley (I guess they couldn't make up their mind who she really was).

This is a little blurry, but I wanted you to see her actually getting an award. The girl to the right of Betsey (the 2nd one) is Kathryn, one of her roommates.

Her "Who's Who" certificate.

She got two plagues to hang up in her office someday.

She is one smart cookie (must take after her mother). We are proud of her.

My four children...they look like stairsteps. When we got home, Elyse mentioned that she was standing on her tippy toes. No wonder she looked taller than Zachary. She isn't in real life.

On the way home, we hit Wendy's for lunch. They have double stack combos for $2.99 (double stack, fries and drink). We fed the four of us for $12.98. What a deal!

Betsey, we are so proud of you. It was great to see you and Micah. Congratulations! You done good!

WHO'S ON FIRST!!!!!

Before the game - our new uniform. We are the "Kustom Auto Body" team. We are supposed to be red and white, but some of the kids forgot and wore black or gray pants.

Zachary's first game in majors (11-12 year olds). It was supposed to rain, it looked like rain, but was it going to rain? We got five innings in before a huge thunderclap sounded. All the parents ran to their cars, we were sure they were going to call the game. But, the rain stopped and they continued the last inning.

Lining up before the game. We actually have a sound system. They announce each player before the game, and as they come up to bat. They also announce the pitcher for that inning.

This is actually from a practice last week, but thought you would like to see him at bat.

We won, 17-3. Zachary made an amazing catch while playing first base. His mother was proud.

As you can see, Elyse isn't too thrilled with watching baseball games. Just wait until she goes to her volleyball clinic next week. All three of us will have to watch her play her game on Friday. It starts at 6:00, if any of you want to come see.

Zachary has a very unique pitching stance. After practice, the other team's coach said, "I thought you were going to kill my guys." He has improved alot in his pitching. Here he is in action (only it is in the living room).

When I tried to use the video insert on this blog, it wouldn't show action, just a picture of Zachary pitching. Hope the link works for you!

This is the second time I tried to load this video - hope it works. Sorry it is sideways - stupid photographer.

BEST DAY OF THE WEEKEND!!!!!

Another post without pictures, sorry.

The plan was to get up to see the sun rise on Easter Sunday. But, the steel mills won't let you see the sun rise, so we decided not to go.

The music at church was awesome. The mixed ensemble sang a medley of "Lamb of God." They were amazing. Sandy Soliday sang "Was it a morning like this." She sounds like Sandi Patti - she is so good. Megan Huber played a piano prelude "Easter Song." WOW! The hymns really set the mood for worship.

It was just the four of us for dinner. We had ham, mashed potatoes, asparagus and lemon bars. The lemon bars would not come out of the pan. I had to have Tim chisel them out. They tasted fine, but they liked the pan better than being eaten.

The afternoon was restful. Around 7:30, Betsey, Emily and Erin H. came in. Emily & Erin stayed the night and left in the wee hours of the morning for Mexico. Betsey has an interview today in LaCrosse. It was fun talking with them and catching up on our time apart. Pray for Betsey's interview. Pray for safety for Emily & Erin as they spend a week in Mexico.

All in all, we had a GREAT weekend! Hope you enjoyed your weekend celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and Savior.

Next entry - I promise to have pictures. But, don't hold your breath!

MORE FUN DAYS!!!!!

Read previous post to get in on the first fun day.

Portage 16 features free movies in the spring. Today, we went to see "The Tale of Despereaux." I have been watching for a movie that I could buy for when we go to Georgia. I thought this would be a good one for Grace and Caleb to watch with the kids. But, I think it was too dark and scary in places. So, we won't be buying this one.

Zachary and Elyse liked the movie, but I thought it was stupid (of course). It is a Cinderella, Ratatouille, Mouse Hunt, etc., all in one. I guess they can't think up a new plot.

I'll keep looking for a DVD to send with the kids in July.

Tomorrow is Resurrection Sunday (or Easter, if you like bunnies). Have a super day of worship.

FUN DAY!!!!!

The following is one boring post to read, sorry.

I know, you are supposed to have pictures and lots of them. But, what do you do when you don't even take the camera with you?

Today, we had a regular day of school. We got done super early (10:30). Tim had the day off, so we decided it was family day. After getting ready to go, we headed to Michigan City. We stopped at Lighthouse Place to see if Hanna Anderson had any sales going for Elyse. Nope! So, we hit the store with the samples of different dips set out. We had several. Then we headed to Michigan for Redamak's. The owner gave away all drinks today, otherwise we would have ordered water. On the way to Merrillville, we stopped by the house. After everyone took a few minute break, we headed to Tyler's Tender. It is the cutest restaurant. You can sit at the counter and a train will bring your meal to you. They have a train set up like a little town. For $1 you can actually ride the train around three or four times. We ate our meal and then the kids rode the train for $1 each.

While we were gone, we had our first showing of the house. Tim kept teasing us all evening that we should be getting a phone call around 6:01 with an offer. The showing was from 4-6. When we got home, we could tell someone was here. Two doors were left open that weren't open when we left, and the shower curtain was pulled back (something I never do). So, we know they were here. What they thought of the house, we have yet to learn.

So, that was our "fun" day. There wasn't any fighting and we had a great time. Unusual, I know. Sorry there weren't any pictures. We are boring people.
